My changing perception about Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon has always annoyed me, especially after he was announced as the new late night show host. My first thought was "they couldn't pick anyone better?" Did they forget he was in Taxi with Queen Latifah? He was in SNL. So what? That show sucks, but that's a discussion for another day. I thought I would see his first episode as a late night host out of pure curiosity. It went as I imagined. It was awkward, unfunny, and just plain uncomfortable to watch. His interview with Robert Deniro was especially tough to watch, but in all fairness to Jimmy, Deniro did not make it easy on him. The most annoying thing about Jimmy and the guests that he had on was that he was such a kiss ass to all of them. He just came off as a phony to me. Months passed and the more i saw his show the more that he grew on me. He is actually a pretty funny guy, his sketches are good, and his impressions are spot on.  I still skip through his interviews though.

Check out this impression of the very unfunny Russell Brand. Jimmy is funnier as Brand than Brand is playing himself.  "page 33, stars-they're just like us. they walk and read. imagine that. its an utter breakthrough in human behavior."

The case for Tim and Eric

If you're not familiar, Tim and Eric are the creators of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job on Adult Swim. When your watching the show you feel like you're watching public access television. It's sometimes bad on purpose and I think people sometimes miss the sarcastic nature of the show. You either love Tim and Eric or you hate them; that's what I've gathered from all of my years of research. As much as I like their style of comedy I can understand why many people don't like them; even i have to admit some of their stuff is tough to watch, but I do respect their originality and creativity
One of my favorite sketches include the "infomercials" about Cinco products. So, the Cinco corporation releases different products that often seem like they are more of an inconvenience than an actual help. Take for example the Cinco Phone: it only has one button, it has two antennas(for better reception), you can't receive calls, weighs almost three pounds, it causes second degree burns, and the battery lasts one entire phone call. Social Network

My friend Eddy recently wrote a post about un-friending people on Facebook(check it out his blog, Gallantteddy). "Why is it so hard to un-friend people?" He asked. I personally have never un-friended anybody, as I don't have many friends to begin with. But, I can definitely see his point. Here is his criteria for un-friending someone: I have no clue who you are, your page is de-activated, I don't really talk to you, I haven't seen you in years, we differ completely in opinions(this one I disagree about), your posts can get excessive at times, and who are you again? I'm sure that some of the people that Eddy un-friended probably got offended, but I ask you why? You know you don't really talk to most of your "friends" on Facebook anyway. Ok ok so you talked to him one time in fourth grade. Big deal.

People take Facebook relationships way too seriously. This kind of reminds me of a Seinfeld bit where he talks about the phone machine and you can draw some parallel's between the phone machine and facebook.  In this bit Seinfeld says "the phone machine(facebook) is like a relationship respirator keeping these marginal brain-dead relationships alive." He also goes on to say, "It's very important for human beings to feel they are popular and well-liked amongst a large group of people that we don't care for." Spot on Mr. Seinfeld. You're observations really do transcend time. Check out the clip for yourself: Phone machine/Facebook   There's a kind of love and hate relationship with Facebook and social networks in general. Most people that use Facebook say they hate it, but their actions say otherwise.

Website Recommendation

From time to time I'll be sharing with you some of the websites that I enjoy visiting the most. My first recommendation is unrealitymag.com. If you enjoy movies, television, videogames, web-culture then this is the website for you. Paul Tassi is the creator of this website with other contributors from time to time. I consider myself to be pretty nerdy so I can kind of relate to the guy. Here's a little example of what you can expect from Unrealitymag: 7 of the best bad guys from Adventure Time.

Happy Veteran's Day!

How are you guys going to celebrate Veteran's Day? Personally I'm gonna buy a mattress for half-off the original price! No I'm actually not, but seriously how do you celebrate it, if at all? It seems like stores just use  this day as a sales promotion. Hey thank our veteran's by buying these really cute boots, which are 20% off! I really don't know what one has to do with the other. On a serious note without getting to political I do want to thank the Veteran's and all of the soldiers for all they do. I also want to thank them for giving me a day off from school and work. I 'm just gonna chill on the couch and watch some regular show on cartoon network.

Blog+Ozzy=Blogzzy

So, I decided to create a new blog. I liked my first blog, son of a sheperd, but I think I was held back a little because it was a blog I created for my class. There were certain things I felt like I couldn't write about and that kind of defeats the purpose of having a blog. Anyway from now one this will be my primary blog. I'll be posting more often and expect to see more of this.
